Great, looking forward to it! My cd-r of it died awhile back and I've missed it ever since.
I really didn't know it could be possible to re-mix a Spector recording, but the experience was exciting.
Now I'm convinced, the stereo "Today" might be rather satisfying, too... ;)
Looking forward the chance to re-discover one of my all time favourite albums in all it's brilliance, and even more dimensions of it!
I also hope we'll be able to enjoy "Summer Days" as well in the not too distant future... :-)
Thanks so much for sharing, and please: Keep on rocking!!!
What sucks about the "Summer Days" box is some of the tapes were 8-track. SDASN was their first go-round with 8-track recording. Brian Wilson chose to record the backing tracks (at Western) which had 3 (later 4) track facilities. The 8-track material was recorded at Columbia which was one of the first 8-track facilities on the west coast. A quarter way though recording, all of the vocal's were done on 8-track as well as 2 tracks. The SDASN boxset is missing the 8-track tapes since the people who copied them did not have a 1" 8-track recorder at their disposal. Becausae of that, only the 3 and 4 track tapes were used for the box. -M.A.
