A VERY DIFFICULT REQUEST
Sorry for my last angry post. Anyway, enjoy STEREO PHIL SPECTOR. It´s so so great!!
And of course I wait for your comments. But you must understand that I have a life and a job and I´m not a rapidshare premium user, so I need a lot of time to upload files. I´m doing the best I can.
And now, back to the music. I´m working now in a binaural mix of PET SOUNDS (one channel: vocals; the other channel: instrumental), using the pet sounds sessions mixes, from Capitol, changing speed, doing a little sync.... This home made mix have remembered me one thing: DUOPHONIC PET SOUNDS. It´s a mix I´ve always wanted but nobody seems to have it, or share it. For those who don´t know what the hell is duophonic...well, it´s a Capitol fake stereo, made with the mono mix, with delay and changing equalization, released in 1966 and with Carl and the Passions in 1972. I´ve tried a home made mix but I need the original to have some reference. My duophonic home made mix is awful!!!
If you know something about this mix...or could share with me, I would be the happiest boy in this world. And if you want to listen my binaural mix of Pet Sounds when finished, let me know.

I always find it interesting that the folks who are so critical leave "anonymous" as their id. What, like maybe they are too afraid to be critical and leave their real name. Me... I think you site is great! I have enjoyed everything that you have put up so far.

There's alot of love with the anonymous crowd, and there are a lot of named lurkers. As Wilson would say "Love and Mercy is what we need tonight", what comes around goes around...Thanks as always for the great posts and the great ideas. I don't have the duophonic, but have heard it in the past. One of the things you could do is run the mono mix through a analog delay plugin (like by Blue Tubes") and experiment in real time the duration....I've had some luck with that tecnique with some of the Sea of Tunes backing tracks. yes i have the duophonic mix on vinyl too, but man i can tell you that it sounds really awful to my ears. just out of curiosity you might listen to it. but only once, i promise you.
i believe the original japanese
cd (from 1990) may have been a duophonic version. but the speed
was not corrected as of that
pressing.

Ok, I'm like a lot of others with a Duophonic vinyl copy and 2 copies on CD -- one is the 1990 mono release, the other is the later stereo mix.
Unfortunately, I don't have the capability to upload rar or zip files (prehistoric software!), but I WAS able to record a test of one song for you. Recorded from the ORIGINAL vinyl (which I personally bought in 1966) to a component CD recorder and then put the file in the computer. I've uploaded it to YSI.
I selected "Here Today" because it has that nice instrumental section in the middle. That way you'll get a sample of a song with and without vocals.
I must say, I'm pretty damn proud of myself because for a 40 year old piece of vinyl, it's in pretty good condition (better than me!) Wish I could offer you more as repayment for the great stuff you've given me, but until I get a more sophisticated computer setup, this will have to do.
I think YSI links are only good for a limited number of downloads or 7 days (whichever comes first). Here's Brian and the Boys as I first heard them doing the song...
